Depending on the definition of atheism, Norway thus has between 26 percent and 71 percent atheists. The Norwegian Humanist Association is the world%26#039;s largest humanist association per capita.

And what has secularism done to Norway? The Global Peace Index rates Norway the most peaceful country in the world. The Human Development Index, a comparative measure of life expectancy, literacy, education and standard of living, has ranked Norway No. 1 every year for the last five years.

Norway has the second highest GDP per capita in the world, an unemployment rate below 2 percent, and average hourly wages among the world%26#039;s highest.

Secularism seems to be really good for countries. Secularism in the non-communist sense I mean, because communist countries tend to be absolutist so they replace all forms of religion so they have no power struggles.

I think that speaks volumes... but the believers will have some spin on it, I%26#039;m sure. They will say that atheism = communism and it can%26#039;t be true. They will not accept facts.|||I%26#039;m moving! Get my coat!|||I%26#039;m seriously considering moving to Norway now...

I think secularism, humanism and atheism are wonderful. Abandoning irrationality and dogma are good things and their absence is likely to produce more good things.

Someone ought to tell BrotherMichael down there that %26quot;Non-religious%26quot; isnt%26#039; the same as %26quot;Humanist%26quot;, and I don%26#039;t think ANYONE could ever accuse Kim Jong of being a humanist.|||woah is that kent hovind lol|||That%26#039;s very interesting. Norway is obviously very adaptable to positive change.|||I%26#039;m an atheist but Norway is just to damn cold.

Don%26#039;t they have a state sponsored religion there?|||Norway ftw.

edit:

Clipt just made some outrageous claims against Norway, and supported it with two news stories about totally unrelated things. One about high heating costs, and the other about moose burping being bad for the environment. Wow. How deceitful can a person be.|||Yeah but let%26#039;s face it, the Norse are bad ***.

Actually my dad went there, he had to do some military testig something or another out there, but he said it was the most beautiful place ever. They just have a completly different way of thinking there as well. I would love to go.|||I agree. But it%26#039;s not religion that has divided people, but people who have taken religion out of context.

Honestly, religion teaches nothing but peace and love.

But in this era, it%26#039;s has since gone down the trough.

We still have to deal with Racism, don%26#039;t we?

What might you say is the solution to that? Paint ourselves %26#039;Gold%26#039;, so that everyone is %26#039;Worth%26#039; it?

Though this may be a way to a more peaceful world, we still have other factors / differences that has divided people over time.|||Yes, Norway is officially Lutheran but has saddled the church with so much bureaucratic work, it%26#039;s too busy to meddle in government.|||But then, you also have North Korea.

North Korea is one of the most repressive and isolated regimes in the world and denies every kind of human right to its citizens. The government is believed to possess several nuclear weapons, and multination talks aimed at dismantling Pyongyang’s nuclear program were intermittent in 2005.

Religion: Non-Religious 64.31%, Traditional ethnic 16.00%, Chondogyo 13.50%, Buddhist 4.50%, and Christian 1.69% (The exact number of Christians is unknown. The figure is an estimate.)

Ideological Influence: One-man dictatorship with communist influence. The country’s previous leader, Kim Il Sung, founded an ideology called “Juche,” meaning self-reliance, which is enforced in every aspect of the culture by the ruling elite.

Head of State: Kim Jong Il, the son of deceased leader Kim Il Sung

Persecution: All religions have been harshly repressed. Many thousands of Christians have been murdered since the Korean War. In 1953, there were about 300,000 Christians; however, the number has reduced to a few thousand today. Christians must practice their faith in deep secrecy and are in constant danger.|||Hey, come to Norway...

If you want to have inconsistent electricity, demanding regulations from the goverment and an over-zealous environmental group....

Live and die in Norway...the one place in the world where you ARE told what to do and you MUST do it!

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl...|||Where did I put my passport...?|||Atheism doesn%26#039;t exist. Didn%26#039;t you know that God is the voice of reason. People call themselves atheist because religion makes them doubt themselves, because they already know God, they just have no understanding of what that is.

All peaceful people know God, they just may not know what God is.

The truth is unpopular.|||Hmmm...is there something like HousesInNorway.com that I can go to?
