IIf you don%26#039;t like nightlife or clubs or bars or basiclaly a student city then avoid brighton

Don%26#039;t know much about Southampton or Portsmouth (visited them once; seemed quite nice)

Normally the west side of a town is the best area. Not too sure why - it could be from the days when there was a lot of smoke from chimneys and the wind normally goes west to east in England.
