I am currently learning macroeconomics and am on the chapter of unemployment.

What impact would each of the following have on the full employment unemployment rate?

b.A permanent decline in tourism-oriented jobs caused by a fear of traveling due to terrorist threats.

c.A decline in tourism-oriented jobs at hotels, restaurants, and theme parks due to recession.

d.Social Security reform provides senior citizens with an incentive to re-enter the labor force.

Would the following be counted in GDP? If so, explain how it enters GDP (C, I, G, or (X-M)) and why. If not, explain why not.

b.Your purchase of flour to make cookies for your study group.

Impact on the full employment unemployment rate...

%26quot;Full employment%26quot; reflects the economy running at full capacity with a %26#039;normal%26#039; amount of unemployment due to workers being between jobs. The precise way that you define full employment can influence the answer to this question. A decent discussion of full employment is located in the source section.

Still, let%26#039;s take a crack at the question. You should check your notes and/or course materials carefully. Does your professor tell you that anything that increases the size of the labor force will increase the full employment unemployment rate? If so, then a. and d. both do so.

B does not change the full employment unemployment rate because the issue addresses only one part of the economy. Under full employment, people who decide to spend less money on tourism will spend their money on other goods and services, which will increase employment in those industries and therefore leave the full employment unemployment rate unchanged.

C is easy to answer. A recession is a cyclical contraction of the economy. One of its symptoms is an unemployment rate that exceeds the full employment unemployment rate. So nothing structural has changed to impact the FEUR.

a) A large number of workers enters the work forces. More jobs needed, if jobs are available employment rate goes up if no jobs available unemployment rate goes up. b) Job cuts due to terrorist threats. Less jobs will cause increase in unemployment rate and a decrease in employment. c) Job cuts due to recession. Less jobs increase in unemployment rate and decrease in employment. d) Senior citizens enter the work force. (Same as (a)) Your just answering on how will this effect the employment rate/unemployment rate? Will it INCREASE (UN) EMPLOYMENT or will it DECREASE (UN) EMPLOYMENT. Hope this helps... The other question I can not answer because I don%26#039;t know what GDP is? Sorry. Abbrev.%26#039;s for things is not my strong point.
