Immigrants take jobs and opportunity away from Americans?

The largest wave of immigration to the U.S. since the early 1900s coincided with our lowest national unemployment rate and fastest economic growth. Immigrant entrepreneurs create jobs for U.S. and foreign workers, and foreign-born students allow many U.S. graduate programs to keep their doors open. While there has been no comprehensive study done of immigrant-owned businesses, we have countless examples: in Silicon Valley, companies begun by Chinese and Indian immigrants generated more than $19.5 billion in sales and nearly 73,000 jobs in 2000.

Immigrants take jobs and opportunity away from Americans?credit report

Indian immigrants? Are we speaking Indians from India? or Native American???? because Native American%26#039;s ARE NOT immigrants. Anglo Saxon%26#039;s are immigrants.

P.S. How many Anglo Saxon%26#039;s have you seen working in the fields picking lettuce in California? How many want to? I think we should all consider the jobs that the immigrants have, would any of you want them? No.......

Immigrants take jobs and opportunity away from Americans?

yeah thats true... but whts ur question??|||Good useful info-- but what is your question?|||First that is just too much to read - which leads to the second part immigrants only take the jobs that Americans dont want or are to lazy to go for.|||Well, it seems the Americans aren%26#039;t motivated or aren%26#039;t qualified. Capitalism will favor the hardworking individual, so the Americans without jobs need to be more aggressive in job-hunting.|||True. I hope one day there are no borders at ALL and I can work freely in the US, China, Chile, Camerun or Bulgaria if I wanted to.|||1. they take jobs americans dont want. 2. most americans dont wanna work for minimum labor. 3. employers wanna pay less to experienced people, while they can pay less to immigrants.|||I really don%26#039;t understand the question here! How are immigrants taking anything away from Americans? I personally do not feel like I have lost anything by them being here!!|||You also left out that we are in the worst drug infested, gang related crime spree in history, even surpassing the Al Capone era, drug smuggling from mexican drug lords is making the colombian drug cartel look like a picnic outing,we now have mexican army units in full gear escorting illegal aliens and drugs into the US,Nuevo Laredo just across from Laredo Texas is controled by the mexican mafia, the local newspaper refuses to print anything against the mafia because their offices were destroyed by gunfire and the reporters killed, yes immigration brings money in,but not all of it is legal|||I don%26#039;t mind them coming here for the opportunity to have a better life but come on....some of their friends need to teach them English. And YES they are coming over here taking our jobs, getting free health care, free education and the list goes on and on and on. I drive a truck cross country and I see many trucking companies hiring Mexicans to replace Americans because they%26#039;ll work cheaper. When I%26#039;m in L.A. I feel like I%26#039;m in another country. The Mexicans that can speak English, won%26#039;t speak it just to aggravate the Americans. When I%26#039;m in Miami where it is saturated with Cubans it%26#039;s so different. They try harder to communicate. My ancestors came over here from Ireland and Germany, they learned English when they got here, and only spoke the native language in the home.|||AMERICANS??? WICH ONES? CHILE? ARGENTINA? MEXICO? CANADA?|||YES THEY DO. People just talk about illegal immigrants doing jobs that Americans don%26#039;t want. If you look at it in a different view, then you%26#039;ll realize that it is true. The main language in America is ENGLISH, __NOT__ Spanish or any other languages. A lot of qualified job candidates were denied for jobs because they don%26#039;t speak Spanish. Realistically, I believe those who speaks a different language other than English should learn English or find a translator(their children, friends, whoever they choose).|||I know there is a question....no probably not..well there has to be...THIS IS A QUESTION AND ANSWER.

My answer: People are people....we want to love, live, grow and see our children do it. What difference does it make what piece of land we do that on? Hey theres a question. Use that one next time Mrs. Hitler.

HMMMM.....and all 25 of your questions sound strangely like Cherokee Rose. Could you be one and the same. Their couldn%26#039;t be 2 woman alive who hated mexicans as much as you too.....could there?|||First, the net benefits to the U.S. economy from immigration, aside from the large gains to the immigrants themselves, are small. Realistic estimates suggest that immigration since 1980 has raised the total income of native-born Americans by no more than a fraction of 1 percent.

Second, while immigration may have raised overall income slightly, many of the worst-off native-born Americans are hurt by immigration 鈥?especially immigration from Mexico. Because Mexican immigrants have much less education than the average U.S. worker, they increase the supply of less-skilled labor, driving down the wages of the worst-paid Americans. The most authoritative recent study of this effect, by George Borjas and Lawrence Katz of Harvard, estimates that U.S. high school dropouts would earn as much as 8 percent more if it weren%26#039;t for Mexican immigration.

That%26#039;s why it%26#039;s intellectually dishonest to say, as President Bush does, that immigrants do %26quot;jobs that Americans will not do.%26quot; The willingness of Americans to do a job depends on how much that job pays 鈥?and the reason some jobs pay too little to attract native-born Americans is competition from poorly paid immigrants.

Finally, modern America is a welfare state, even if our social safety net has more holes in it than it should 鈥?and low-skill immigrants threaten to unravel that safety net.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bush%26#039;s plan for a %26quot;guest worker%26quot; program is clearly designed by and for corporate interests, who%26#039;d love to have a low-wage work force that couldn%26#039;t vote. Not only is it deeply un-American; it does nothing to reduce the adverse effect of immigration on wages. And because guest workers would face the prospect of deportation after a few years, they would have no incentive to become integrated into our society.

What about a guest-worker program that includes a clearer route to citizenship? I%26#039;d still be careful. Whatever the bill%26#039;s intentions, it could all too easily end up having the same effect as the Bush plan in practice 鈥?that is, it could create a permanent underclass of disenfranchised workers.

We need to do something about immigration, and soon. But I%26#039;d rather see Congress fail to agree on anything this year than have it rush into ill-considered legislation that betrays our moral and democratic principles.|||nope.|||Americans? African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Euro-Americans, or the Americans (Red-Indians)? Todays Americans are actually all immigrants some got nationality and others are waiting for it. The true residents of America are no more seen. However, your question relates to human evolutionary history which tells us that they are descendants of one common ancestor which arrived this earth tens of thousand years ago. The most probable place where he landed is Sri Lanka then through Asia to Europe and Americas, Australia and each corner of the earth. The better living opportunities always atracted humans. Now a days if US is better opportunity, it is obvious that humans will be moving to the place of opportunity. It is like humans do. Now comes the question of rendering someone jobless in other words by unfair means (crime in any social setup) then it is flaw in American laws. If you mean these people are more competent then what is wrong with Americans? Is it lower IQ? I know that IQ is only 0.1% hertable. So it is not the reason. 99.9% of IQ is training dependent. Out of this 99.9% 90% is contributed by the sosiety (living style, religion, education). The sociology of Americas is much like wild animals and the importance of relationships has been greatly decreasing.
